All too often what a product "claims" it will do usually leads to disappointment - not so with EB! Having recently moved into a house that had not been decorated for some 60 years and whose walls were last decorated with distemper I was stumped.

A little bit of internet searching and a pop into my local Brewers store later and voila! after a pot of EB my new emulsion stayed on the wall! Thanks again for a great product and yes it really does work! Daniel

So I applied Polytrol this weekend. 1st I mopped the boat down with tap water and spot of detergent then I let it dry in the sun and a bit of breeze that was blowing. I was only doing the cabin sides because I'm going to put non-slip on the roof later on.

Thanks to Gary's link I found one sentence that said the product could be applied either with a soft cloth or a brush - I chose to use a 3" brush. The liquid has a consistency somewhere between water and cooking oil, so it goes on very easily with no brush marks. Because it is a clear fluid I could just paint straight over the coach lines with no masking or anything. The brushes cleaned afterwards with hot water and detergent.

It takes up to 8 hours to dry, so it was still tacky to touch when we had to drive home, but was already impervious to the rain shower that came on.

I was delighted with the results so far. If it lasts through this year i will be more than pleased at the improvement in the boat's appearance for the small expenditure for a litre (and I've still got 1/2 left) and a couple of hours labour. David

Owatrol Oil

My brother has been painting his boat using this additive. If used correctly it is brilliant. Paint flattens out as good as spray finish on flat surfaces, I'm a trained car sprayer, and was going to spray the boat, however seeing the results my brother's getting I’m going to paint by hand roller & brush, although some spraying where appropriate. You have to be patient with this stuff, but it allows you much more time to play with, especially in hot weather. Leave the paint over night and the next day the finish is superb. Basically it keeps the paint wetter without compromising the drying time allowing the paint to flatten out smoothly. Of course there are all the other benefits as well. This stuff goes a long way too, although it seems expensive, in reality it's actually excellent value for money. Julynian

I have used Owatrol Oil on parts of the boat where I have used ordinary oil based paints and have been amazed at the results. The rust seems to have disappeared. J.Ewing

I paint picture paintings that you hang on walls and I am using Floetrol in acrylics for more control and longer open time. It enables me to work almost the same as oil paints because I now get to blend colours and flow them without thinning them down like you get when you just add water. The body of the acrylics is still there and not washed out.

Unlike oils that take ages to dry (months), acrylics with Floetrol dry in hours. Acrylics without Floetrol dry within an hour. It certainly extends the working time and so control over the paint. H.O’Malley

I used the Net-Trol on some timber decking I’d put down last year and am trying to restore to match the colour of the rest of the decking that I’ve completed this summer. The product certainly seems to brighten the timber (unlike the ****** product I’d tried earlier – I emailed their customer services department about two weeks ago and have yet to receive a reply!). Also I used it on some hardwood garden furniture, which worked really well. All in all, I’m really impressed! D.Holliday

I have used ESP in the past and found it great – allowed me to paint and update tired kitchen cupboards until a new one can be put in. G.Adams

Hi, very pleased with Seasonite. Its enhanced the hardwood we used for our decking and is very waterproof as when it rains it sits on top of the wood. Highly recommended. K.Woodman

I used the Owatrol Oil whilst working in Australia but it was called Penetrol. It is such a useful product and really does improve the consistency of paint and I’m sure makes it last a lot longer because it’s increasing the oil content preventing cracking and flaking. It’s also great at sealing rust and stopping further spreading, and bleeding through the paint. I know it’s good for wood and even giving lustre back to other surfaces. So yeah it’s a product that has many uses and I’m surprised its not sold more widely because a lot of painters would find it very useful, even mechanics dealing with metal parts and rusting. B.Wyatt

We recently purchased your products; Net-trol Wood Cleaner & Textrol Finishing Oil in clear as part of a refurbishment programme on our Village Cricket Pavilion. We found the cleaner very efficient, it brought the cedar shingle roof back to life and the Finishing Oil gave it back its depth & protection. The overall result was very impressive. Both products were easy to use & clear instructions were given. We would certainly use them again. J.Rogers

I am not a professional painter, but I needed to repaint some fitted bedroom furniture which had been manufactured and fitted some years ago by Christies. The doors were of a very smooth two colour melamine finish which I wanted to repaint white.

Searching the internet I came across the product MSP (multi surface paint). This could be apparently applied to a variety of surfaces including melamine without primer, but there was a recommendation to lightly sand the surface to be painted. This seemed to be a chore both because of the large surface area involved and also because the decorative mouldings and surface detail would be difficult to sand effectively.

The last thing I wanted was to spend ages doing the job and the paint not keying properly. That was when I came across a reference to your product ESP. Having details from you of the stockist in my area I purchased a tin of the new formula ESP and also used the MSP white satin finish paint. The application of the ESP was simplicity itself, and I followed it with 3 coats of MSP using a small roller. The results have been excellent and the furniture is looking really great, even having compliments from a professional painter and decorator who took note of the product name. R.Davies

You are right I did order some of the Solid Colour Stain which I used on my Summer House and was I impressed!

The wood was well weathered about 5 years old but the paint went on like a dream. Easy to apply and very economical. A two and half litre tin covered two coats of my 6' by 6' Summer House with some paint left over. It looks great. The second bonus was when it rained the water fell off it like rain on a rubber mack. I'm in the process of painting the inside of my Summer House now.

I'm so impressed with the product I have tried to persuade my friends to buy it. If you work out how much it would cost to keep repainting with a lesser product every 2/3 years I think it would cost more and involve a lot more work. I wish I had used it on my window shutters some years ago - I will next time.

By the way Peter who looked after my order was really knowledgeable and helpful. He knew his stuff and didn't let me over order. The tins arrived when they said they would and when suited me.

Fantastic product, fantastic service! D.Evers
